Industrial Production Drops 2.8% in September

Industrial production in the nation was down 2.8% in September while capacity utilization fell to 76.4, according to data released yesterday by the Federal Reserve Board.

The drop in production level followed a 1.0% decrease the previous month, originally reported as a 1.1% drop, while August capacity use was an unrevised 78.7.

Thomson Reuters had forecast a 0.8% decline for production, and a 77.9% level for capacity utilization.
