Huntington Adds Reidy as Director of Cleveland Office

CHICAGO — Columbus, Ohio-based Huntington Investment Co. has hired Timothy Reidy as the new director of its Cleveland public finance office.

Reidy joins the bank from NatCity Investments Inc., where he worked in the Cleveland office focusing on northern Ohio financings. He will be reunited with John Petty, a vice president who also worked at NatCity before moving on to Huntington three years ago.

Jamie Lang rounds out the bank’s public finance team as director of the Columbus office.

“The market has made available some really talented people,” said John C. Grant, managing director of Huntington, who oversees the public finance group.

“Tim is well regarded in northern Ohio,” Grant said. “He’s experienced and has great relationships with issuers.”

Reidy will work to expand Huntington’s role as senior manager on transactions in his new position, Grant said.

The investment bank has worked as senior manager on several note deals, but has not served in that role on bond issues in Ohio or nationally, according to Thomson Reuters.

As co-manager, with a senior manager, Huntington worked on a total of 68 issues with $275.3 million of combined volume last year, according to Thomson Reuters. The bank has worked on 68 issues so far this year for a total volume of $139.2 million.

“The transactions we’ve been involved in have primarily been as co-managers,” Grant said. “Tim brings us the opportunity to be sole manager on some transactions.”

The bank is looking to hire more public finance bankers as the “opportunity presents itself,” Grant said, noting that it has no concrete expansion plans.

Huntington Investment plans to focus its public finance work in the states where its government banking unit is strong in order to provide local governments with a range of services, from Treasury services to tax-exempt borrowings.

The investment bank’s current offices are in Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, West Virginia, and west Pennsylvania.

Huntington Bancshares Inc., the parent company of Huntington Investment, is one of Ohio’s top banks and is headquartered in Columbus.

It provides a range of commercial and retail banking services with more than 600 national banking offices.
