Dallas-based Hilltop Securities Inc. has hired two bankers to increase the company's business in Florida.
Matthew Sansbury and Alex Bugallo have joined the firm’s public finance division in Orlando as managing directors. They will focus on increasing Hilltop’s municipal client base in the Sunshine state, as well as seeking new opportunities for growth in the southeast, the company said.
“We are very fortunate to welcome Matt and Alex to Hilltop Securities. It is difficult to find bankers of this caliber,” said David Medanich, vice chairman and head of public finance. “This will solidify our commitment to Florida for the future”
Prior to joining Hilltop, Sansbury and Bugallo worked at Stifel Nicolaus & Co., where they managed the firm’s public finance practice in Florida.
Before that, both bankers were vice presidents at Raymond James & Associates Inc., serving as lead and co-lead bankers on financial advisory and underwriting transactions for large, high-profile issuers in Florida.

Sansbury received a bachelor’s degree and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Florida.
Bugallo received a bachelor’s degree from Cleveland State University and a Master of Business Administration from Ohio State University.

In addition to Orlando, Hilltop also has an office in Miami. Between the two locations, the company has seven investment bankers and one administrative associate.
