The race to become Florida’s next governor got off to a swift start last week with state Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink, a Democrat, announcing her candidacy.

And this week, Attorney General Bill McCollum, a Republican, threw his hat in the ring. Another Republican, Agriculture Commissioner Charlie Bronson, also is considering running for the state’s highest office. All three candidates were elected to their current posts.
