Fitch’s Joseph Mason Joins Davenport & Co.

Davenport & Co. LLC, a Richmond Virginia-based investment bank and financial adviser, announced last week that Joseph D. Mason will join the firm as a banker and financial advisor. Mason joins Davenport from Fitch Ratings, where he was a senior director in the northern Virginia office.

“Joe’s wealth of credit experience and knowledge of the issues facing our clients in Maryland, North Carolina, and Virginia make him a great fit for out organization,” David Rose, senior vice president and co-manger of Davenport’s public finance practice, said in a prepared statement.

Davenport ranked 13th in North Carolina, senior managing $50 million of tax-exempt debt in four deals, and 23rd in Virginia, where it senior managed $17 million in two deals, according to Thomson Financial. It did not senior manage any deals in Maryland last year. Nationally, the firm senior managed $124.4 million in 11 deals in 2005.

Mason spent seven years at Fitch as an analyst covering local government, tax-supported, and water and sewer credits in the Northeast. He joins the firm as a vice president and will be based in northern Virginia.
