Fed Survey Shows Consumers See Inflation Steady

Consumers' view of inflation expectations were steady in October, with buyers expecting 3.0% inflation over the course of one year and three years, according to the Survey of Consumer Expectations, released by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York on Monday.

Consumers see gas price growth falling to 3.9%, a 17-month low, but also see less probability that average interest rates on savings accounts would rise.

Median home price increases of 3.7% fell within the range seen since February 2014. Rent increases slipped to a low of 5.3%.

Consumers see earnings rising 2.4% in the year, unchanged from the prior month's survey.
