New orders for manufactured goods increased 0.2% in February, after falling a revised 0.7% in January, first reported as a 0.2% decline, the Commerce Department reported Thursday.
Economists polled by Thomson Reuters expected a 0.4% drop in February orders.
Excluding transportation, new orders rose 0.8%, after a 2.3% drop the previous month. Excluding defense, orders gained 0.4%, after a 0.6% slide in January.
Durable goods orders fell 1.4% after a 1.9% increase in January, while nondurable goods orders were up 1.8% after a 3.2% drop in January.
