U.S. Bank Corporate Trust Services, a subsidiary of U.S. Bank, has tapped industry veteran Donna Williams to oversee the administrative and compliance activities of the corporate trust staff in the company's Nashville office. The office handles more than 650 corporate trust accounts for municipal and corporate debt for a variety of different sectors. Williams will report to Emily Katt, managing director of U.S. Bank Corporate Trust Services in Atlanta.
Williams has more than 25 years of experience in the trust industry. Most recently, she worked at SunTrust Bank in Nashville, where she was a vice president and a corporate trust compliance manager.
The move comes amid the integration of Wachovia Corp.'s corporate trust department into U.S. Bank's trust department following the $800 merger in November.
In 2005, U.S. Bank was the leading trustee for tax-exempt debt, administering $62.2 billion in municipal debt through 1,168 issues, although that figure includes totals for Wachovia's corporate trust business as well, according to Thomson Financial.
Prior to the merger of the two trust departments, U.S. Bank ranked second in the tax-exempt category, administering $39.09 billion in municipal debt. Before the merger of the two departments, Wachovia ranked fifth in par amount, serving as trustee on $12.79 billion in tax-exempt debt through 247 deals. (c) 2006 The Bond Buyer and SourceMedia, Inc.
