Corbett Names Katie True His Legislative Chief

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett on Wednesday named former lawmaker Katie True of Lancaster County as secretary of legislative affairs.

True, who served 16 years in the state House of Representatives, replaced Christopher Carusone, who left last month to become a partner at law firm Conrad O'Brien PC. True worked for the past two years as commissioner of the Bureau of Professional and Occupational Affairs within the Pennsylvania state department.

The announcement marks the latest personnel move by Corbett after a legislative session in which he failed to pass his three major initiatives: pension overhaul, transportation funding and liquor-store privatization.

"We look forward to having her on the team as we work to enact our legislative agenda in the fall and beyond," Corbett said in a statement.

Lawmakers will return to Harrisburg next month for a fall session.

Also on Wednesday, Corbett named Madelyn (Lynn) Lawson as communications director, succeeding Kevin Harley. Her political experience includes having served with new Corbett chief of staff Leslie Gromis Baker as press secretary for former Gov. Tom Ridge's 1998 re-election campaign.
