Connecticut Treasurer Receives Public Service Award

Connecticut Treasurer Denise Nappier received a public service award from the Municipal Forum of New York.

She received her award Wednesday night at the organization's 24th annual awards and urban leadership fundraising dinner in New York.

Nappier, the state treasurer since 1998 and serving her fourth term, is the first African-American female state treasurer and the first such woman elected to a statewide office in Connecticut.

Nappier, a former treasurer of capital city Hartford, is also the only woman elected Connecticut treasurer.

The annual event honors industry leaders for their contributions, while raising funds to support the Municipal Forum's urban leadership fellows program.

Also honored were Citi public finance managing director Frank Chin, who received a lifetime achievement award; and Loews Corp. senior portfolio manager Mark Muller, who received the Austin Koenen career achievement award.
