Charles M. Harmon Jr., one of the founders of Goldman, Sachs & Co.'s municipal bond department, died last week in West Palm Beach, Fla. He was 62.
Harmon joined Goldman Sachs in 1966 and was named a general partner in 1974. He was also a member of the firm's investment banking policy committee.
Midway through his tenure with Goldman, Harmon was elected vice president of the firm's fixed-income division. His chief responsibility was managing the municipal bond department.
Harmon entered semiretirement in 1986, becoming a limited partner. The next year, he formed C.H. Investments in West Palm Beach. In the past few years, Harmon had remained active in the investment banking industry as a limited partner of Harmon, Heppner & Landry and served on the investment committee of the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation.
Harmon's family did not provide the cause of death.
