Rhode Island General Treasurer Frank Caprio officially announced his candidacy for governor last week.
Caprio, who as treasurer is involved in the state’s bond deals, joins a crowded slate of would-be successors to outgoing Gov. Donald Carcieri.
Caprio will face a primary with fellow Democrat Attorney General Patrick Lynch. Also in the running are Republicans John Robitaille and Victor Moffitt, Independent Lincoln Chafee, and Moderate Party candidate Ken Block.
