Bond Streak Maintained

The Oklahoma County Independent School District 12 extended its streak of successful bond elections to 54 with last week’s approval of a $35.5 million request.

The proposal was approved by 74% of the 3,096 voters. School bonds in Oklahoma must be approved by a 60% margin.

There are 86,476 registered voters in the district that serves the Oklahoma City suburb of Edmond.

Superintendent David Goin said the bond proceeds will be used to expand and build facilities to accommodate growth.

The bonds will provide $34.6 million for facility construction and technology, and $900,000 for school buses and equipment.

The district is rated AA by Standard & Poor’s.
