Bing Banks on Buddy

Detroit Mayor Dave Bing last week appointed a pair of new city executives, including a former finance chief for the Bing Group.

Tom Lijana, who recently served as chief financial officer for the Bing Group — a manufacturing company founded by the mayor — and as chief operating officer of Arden Cos., was appointed as group executive for finance under the city’s CFO, Norman White.

Bing appointed veteran official Albert Fields as group executive in the planning department. Fields served under former Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick for years, where he was deputy chief operating officer for special projects, and has worked at several private firms, including DTE Energy Co. and Comerica.
