Bear, Stearns & Co. announced Tuesday that Juan Pittman, formerly of UBS Financial Services Inc., has joined the public finance department as a managing director. He is based in Los Angeles and reports to senior managing director Steven Dworkin.
Pittman, who came aboard June 28, will focus on state and local governments in California as well as transportation and infrastructure issues, Dworkin said yesterday.
Pittmans strong background in both the public and private sectors give him an ability to identify and respond to the needs of issuers, according to a statement from Robert Foran, senior managing director and co-head of public finance in Bear Stearns New York office.
Pittman joined the national infrastructure group at PaineWebber, now UBS Financial, in March 1999. He previously served as a Los Angeles assistant deputy mayor and also worked for the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
