Ballard’s Rhodes Steps Up

William Rhodes became chairman of the public finance department at Ballard Spahr LLP, the Philadelphia law firm announced.

Rhodes, whose appointment took effect Jan. 1, succeeds Blake Wade, who will become managing partner of the firm’s Salt Lake City office. Rhodes oversees more than 50 attorneys that represent state and local governments and authorities, nonprofit organizations, and financial institutions in bond transactions.

According to a statement from the firm, Rhodes was instrumental in forming its municipal recovery initiative, which guides towns and cities through financial challenges.

The firm also named John Langel chair of its litigation department. He will oversee Ballard’s largest practice group, which has more than 200 attorneys in 13 offices nationwide.
