Musser will add to the depth of resources at Pope Flynn, said managing member Joe Lucas.

“We feel very privileged to have added Bill to our group of public finance and governmental law attorneys,” Lucas said. “Added to that experience is his extensive work for national and regional banks and underwriters, as well as his extensive corporate work.”

For more than 30 years, Musser has worked as a public finance, securities and corporate attorney. He most recently was a partner with the McNair Law Firm.

Musser has been bond counsel as well as counsel to underwriters and banks in multiple practice areas such as healthcare, aviation, higher education, electric and other utilities, and government sectors, the firm said.

His practice has included being bond counsel on financings for three major South Carolina airports, several hospitals, the Myrtle Beach boardwalk, and a municipal convention hotel, solid waste disposal and landfill facility.

As bond and development counsel, he worked on the renovation of a historic facility for a higher education institution and a $140 million mixed-use retail and residential development.

“Pope Flynn has built an intriguing boutique firm that focuses on providing highly specialized and complex transactional work for a unique set of clients,” Musser said. “From their founding in 2008 with three attorneys, I’ve watched them grow to 11 attorneys and add offices in Charlotte, Spartanburg, and Charleston.

“They are building something unique and very focused, and I’m happy to be a part of that effort.”

Musser is a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers and serves on NABL’s Securities Law and Disclosure Committee. He has also been a member of the Carolinas Municipal Council Advisory Board.

He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He received a law degree and master of business administration from Wake Forest University.

Musser will work in Columbia and Charleston.

Pope Flynn also has offices in Charlotte and Spartanburg.
