During the pandemic, Thomas covered the national healthcare industry for the Guardian News and later worked with the GroundTruth Foundation to report on protest movements in New York in addition to the state of a federally managed refugee resettlement program struggling in the wake of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan.
