Puerto Rico Governor Names Bielenberg as Revitalization Coordinator

Puerto Rico Gov. Alejandro García Padilla named Aaron Bielenberg as the PROMESA board's revitalization coordinator.

According to the Puerto Rico Oversight Management and Economic Stability Act, passed this summer, the board was supposed to suggest three people for this position by the end of October. The board did this and the governor chose Bielenberg from among the candidates, according to a statement from the governor's office Wednesday.

Bielenberg has the title expert associate partner at the Washington D.C. office of McKinsey & Co.'s infrastructure practice. According to a statement from the board, Bielenberg "works with investors, developers, lenders, utilities, and governments as support on infrastructure topics and on complex restructurings and transformations, including involvement in major transformations of national utility companies. He has more than 14 years of restructuring and infrastructure transaction advisory experience."

In late October the board said the appointment was being done on an interim basis until it completed a more thorough search for candidates.
