Matthias Edrich Returns to Kutak Rock

WASHINGTON - Matthias Edrich, chair of the National Association of Bond Lawyers' tax-law committee, rejoined Kutak Rock on Monday, less than a year after he left the firm.

Edrich previously worked in Kutak's Denver office from May 2012 to August 2014 and is based in that city He had left to become a shareholder at Greenberg Traurig and was primarily based in that firm's Boston office.

Edrich advises issuers and borrowers on federal tax issues concerning municipal bonds. He was a partner when he left Kutak and is now "of counsel" at the firm, an official with the firm said.

"After a difficult decision, I have decided to return to Colorado for family reasons and am excited to rejoin my colleagues in the tax department at Kutak Rock," Edrich said. "Ranked as one of the top bond and underwriter's counsel firms in the U.S., Kutak provides a great opportunity for me to grow in my career and work on innovative financings for our clients around the country."

Robert Irvin, a public finance attorney and vice chair of Kutak, said the firm was happy to see Edrich return. "Since the inception of our firm 50 years ago, public finance, and in particular the critical tax advice we give to our public finance clients in connection with those financings, has been an important part of our firm. Matthias's tax expertise along with that of the rest of our 103 tax group will continue to greatly benefit those clients," Irvin said.

Edrich received law, master of laws, and master of business administration degrees from the University of Denver. He has a bachelor of science degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
