Gurtin Names Schuette as Partner, Co-Head of Portfolio Management

Thomas Schuette has been promoted to partner and co-head of portfolio management at Gurtin Fixed Income Management LLC, the firm announced on Monday.

Schuette's promotion is aimed at bringing the credit research and portfolio management teams closer together. Schuette is based in the firm's San Diego offices.

"As co-head of credit research, Tom has made a lasting impact on the fabric of the firm," said CEO Bill Gurtin. "His commitment to maintaining a high bar for the credit quality of our clients' portfolios and ability to think in terms of relative value have greatly contributed toward our effective management of a growing suite of uniquely credit-driven municipal strategies."

Since joining Gurtin in 2009, Schuette has written and co-written the firm's independent credit research. He also developed a training program for analysts which focuses on fostering a culture of continued learning.

Prior to joining Gurtin, Schuette was an analyst at Moody's Investors Service in its U.S. Regional Public Finance group. He also held various positions in the public sector, including senior budget analyst for Multnomah County, Ore., and policy analyst for the St. Louis, Mo,. Region Council of Governments.

Based in San Diego and Chicago, Gurtin is a Securities and Exchange Commission registered investment advisor and manages over $10 billion in assets. The firm specializes in separately managed municipal bond portfolios.
