Williams Calls Summer 2015 ‘Reasonable Guess’ for First Hike

Next summer is a "reasonable guess" for when the Federal Reserve will make its first rate hike, Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco president and chief executive officer John Williams said in a televised interview Thursday.

Williams based his remarks on the way the economy has improved, but noted the Federal Open Market Committee "really want[s] to be data dependent."

When the rate hikes begin, they will be gradual, Williams told CNBC.
