Final July U. of Mich. Index at 81.8 vs. 82.5 in June

The University of Michigan's final July consumer sentiment index reading was 81.8, compared to the preliminary July 81.3, and the final June 82.5, according to market sources.

The expectations index was 71.8, compared to the preliminary July 71.1 and the final June 73.5.

The current conditions index was 97.4, compared to the preliminary July 97.1 and the final June 96.6.

Economists polled by Thomson Reuters had predicted an 81.8 reading for the main index, 97.1 for current conditions and 71.5 for expectations.

The five-year inflation expectation index was 2.7%, compared to 2.9% in June, while the one-year inflation expectation index was 3.3%, compared to 3.1% in June.

The University of Michigan index is not released to the press, but only to paying subscribers.
