Mass. Hires Venay as Deputy Treasury Director

Massachusetts Treasurer Steven Grossman hired Marvin Venay as deputy director of governmental affairs.

“Marvin brings to Treasury a deep understanding of how to bring people together and advance toward shared goals,” Grossman said in a Sept. 5 announcement.

Venay was the executive director of the Massachusetts Black and Latino Legislative Caucus, where he served as a liaison to outside groups and organizations and collaborated with state and city officials, community leaders, clergy, corporations, and advocacy groups. Simultaneously he was a political analyst for the Callie Crossley Show on WGBH radio and an adjunct government professor at Suffolk University.

“I am thrilled to join the Treasury in its quest to create jobs, boost small business and ensure transparency for all communities,” said Venay.

Earlier in his career, Venay worked in development and was a special events coordinator for Freedom House Inc., an organization that helps track at-risk young people toward educational opportunities.
