Preliminary June U. of Mich. Index at 82.7 vs. 84.5 in May

The University of Michigan's preliminary June consumer sentiment index reading was 82.7, compared to the final May 84.5, and the preliminary May 83.7, according to market sources.

The expectations index was 76.7, compared to the final May 75.8, and the preliminary May 74.8.

The current conditions index was 92.1, compared to the final May 98.0, and the preliminary May 97.5.

Economists polled by Thomson Reuters had predicted an 84.5 reading for the main index, 96.0 for current conditions and 76.0 for expectations.

The five-year inflation expectation index was 3.0%, compared to 2.9% in May, while the one-year inflation expectation index was 3.2%, compared to 3.1% in May.

The University of Michigan index is not released to the press, but only to paying subscribers.
