Jobless Claims Unchanged At 370,000 in May 12 Week

WASHINGTON — Seasonally adjusted initial jobless claims remained at 370,000 for the week ending May 12, while continuing claims rose to 3.265 million for the previous week, the Labor Department reported Thursday.

The previous week’s revised level of 370,000 initial claims was originally reported as 367,000.

The 3.265 million of continuing claims for the week ending May 5 represented an increase of 18,000 from the previous week’s revised count of 3.247 million, originally reported as 3.229 million.

The 370,000 of initial claims were more than the median estimate of 365,000 projected by economists polled by Thomson Reuters, and the 3.265 million of continuing claims came in above their median estimate of 3.240 million.
