Retail sales grew 2.4% in the week ended December 15, after a 2.2% increase the week before, according to the weekly retail sales report released by Johnson Redbook Tuesday.
Month-to-date, December was up 2.2% compared to December of last year (relative to a target of a 2.6% gain). Month-over-month showed a 0.2% drop (relative to a target of a 0.2% gain).
Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly nixed another tax cut bill passed by the Republican-led legislature this year, while pushing a less-costly plan.
It's a big week for the Fortress-backed train company, which refinanced more than $4 billion of debt and broke ground on its West Coast high-speed line.
