New Jersey Voters OK $55.6M in Local Bonds

Voters in several New Jersey communities approved $55.6 million in bond last week.

They went to the polls in six school districts; in four of those districts, the voters approved a combined $42.4 million in spending for school construction. They rejected a total of $18.8 million of bonds in the other two.

Park Ridge, Robbinsville, South Amboy and Westfield voters approved the referendums. Midland Park and Bellmawr voters rejected the proposals.

Most of the referendums stated that "no state support is currently available and the state has not been approving any capital projects for which state support is requested."

The approved amounts are $3.1 million in Bellmawr, $19 million in Robbinsville, $8.5 million in South Amboy, and $13.6 million in Westfield.

Also on Tuesday voters in Westfield approved a $13.6 million bond to repair or replace the roofs of government owned buildings.
