Trident and Savader in Alliance

LOS ANGELES -- Municipal research firms Trident Municipal Research, LLC and Savader Asset Advisors LLC are teaming up to provide joint research content and services for municipal institutional investors.

In the first stage of the strategic alliance, the firms will immediately start pooling marketing efforts for the credit analysis of individual municipal securities, produced by SAA, and the thematic portfolio strategy analysis, provided by Trident.

“As we were talking, we realized that what we were doing is fairly complementary,” said Bart Mosley, co-president of Trident, referring to conversations with Mitchell Savader, chief executive officer of SAA.

“His in-depth look into a broad range of credits complements our macro approach to portfolio strategy, so we wanted to provide both sets of each other’s product to our customer base.”

The strategic alliance is expected to be the first phase of a greater association involving jointly produced content and product offerings.

“It’ll take a couple different forms where we bring together our approach and his approach, whether it’ll be through webinars, more in-depth sector reports, and strategy recommendations, et cetera,” Mosley said.

The firms are expected to announce such new offerings of research services during the first quarter of 2013.

Trident is a joint venture of Arbor Research & Trading, Inc., an institutional research and brokerage firm, and Alprion Capital Management LP, an investment manager focused on the municipal sector. Trident, which has been in operation for a little over a year, is focused on providing independent research for the municipal bond market.

SAA is an independent provider of municipal credit research services based on fundamental credit analysis and designed for institutional investors, such as community banks, insurance companies, and private wealth managers.
