Hansen Appointed to CHFFA

Gov. Jerry Brown appointed public policy professional Jay Hansen to the California Health Facilities Financing Authority.

Hansen will have to be confirmed by the Senate for the position, which offers no compensation.

The 49-year-old Democrat has been chief strategy officer of the California Medical Association since 2010, according to a release.

The CHFFA, chaired by state Treasurer Bill Lockyer, serves as a conduit bond issuer for nonprofit hospitals and health care organizations, and also administers some hospital and health care grant programs.

Hansen was legislative and political director for the State Building and Construction Trades Council of California from 1999 to 2010.

Between 1992 to 1999 he also served as special assistant to Assembly Speakers Willie Brown, Cruz Bustamante, Antonio Villaraigosa and Bob Hertzberg, as well as to Democratic leader Richard Katz.

Hanson holds several board positions including: City of Sacramento Parks and Recreation Commission, the Occidental College Board of Governors and the Advisory Council for the USC Sacramento Center.
