Poll: Houston Voters Favor Bonds

A recent poll of Houston voters found majorities in support of all three major general obligation bond issues on the November ballot.

The findings show 54% of voters in the survey support Houston Independent School District’s $1.9 billion proposal, 56% favor Houston Community College’s $425 million referendum, and 69% back the city of Houston’s $410 million request.

Opponents totaled 22% for the school bonds, 21% for the community college bonds, and 14% for the city bonds.

The poll was financed by Citizens for Better Schools, a political action committee formed to back the school district plan.

The survey was conducted by political science professors at the University of Houston.

More than 600 voters were surveyed in late August and early September.
