Del City, Okla., to Vote Again on Renewing Sales Tax

Revenues from a 1.5% sales tax in Del City, Okla., that is up for renewal on Aug. 28 would fund the demolition of an old police station in order to build a replacement fire station.

The tax must be renewed every five years. The Oklahoma City suburb finances capital projects with the tax revenues rather than issuing debt.

In addition to the new fire station, revenues will be allocated to a memorial for female veterans, a new library, a sports complex, city vehicles and street projects.

The sports complex will include baseball, football and soccer fields, as well as a cricket pitch and areas for rugby and disc golf.
