New York Council Approves NYU Expansion Over Neighbor Objections

The New York City Council voted to permit New York University to add 1.9 million square feet to its Greenwich Village campus for classrooms, a gym and housing in the face of objections from residents and faculty who said it would change the character of the neighborhood.

Looks like a dubious investment. Why add 1.9 million ft/sq of classroom space when distance learning is in the ascendant and NYU tuition is largely unaffordable? As a double alumnus (BA, MPA) and the husband and father of alumni, I have real doubts.
