The Hawaii Senate Tuesday unanimously confirmed Kalbert Young as director of the Department of Budget and Finance.
Young was one of the first people Gov. Neil Abercrombie picked for his administration after his election in November. He has served in the position on an interim basis since Abercrombie took office in December.
In addition to overseeing the budget, Young also monitor the state’s debt management and its Treasury investments. He was Maui County’s finance director from 2004 to 2010.
