Obama Fast-Tracks Bridge

President Obama approved New York State’s request to expedite the review and approval process to allow work to begin on the replacement of the Tappan Zee Bridge between Westchester and Rockland counties.

It was one of 14 infrastructure projects that Obama fast-tracked last week.

With an expedited federal review of the environmental impact statement and the processing of certain permits, the Tappan Zee project, estimated to cost $16 billion, could begin as early as next year, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said in a statement.
