Thruway Head Gets Nod

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo nominated former state transportation commissioner Thomas Madison as executive director of the New York State Thruway Authority, subject to Senate confirmation.

Madison is a vice president and director of transportation policy at consulting firm STV Inc.

He was a federal highway administrator at the U.S. Department of Transportation from 2008 to 2009, and before that, was the state's transportation commissioner under former Gov. George Pataki from 2005 to 2007.

Madison, a former deputy county executive in Broome County, holds a bachelor's degree in political science from the State University of New York at Geneseo in 1988.
