The Indiana House Ways and Means Committee will begin to consider Gov. Mitch Daniels’ proposed two-year budget Tuesday. They also will receive a new revenue forecast from state economists.
Daniels unveiled his spending plan last week. It includes a 3% cut for higher education and also trims Medicaid, while keeping nearly all other spending flat.
Lawmakers want to pass a budget by the session’s end in late April. The $27.8 billion, two-year budget anticipates ending fiscal 2013 with $725 million in reserves.
