New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has selected nine members to serve on the state’s Red Tape Review Commission, which will assess regulation of the business community.
Lieut. Gov. Kim Guadagno will chair the panel. It will make recommendations to the governor for improving the state’s regulatory laws.
The administration said last week that it believes better guidelines for the business industry and “common-sense regulation” could help the state with job creation and economic development.
“For far too long, New Jersey residents have been faced with layers of burdensome rules and regulations that make it difficult and expensive for New Jersey’s businesses to succeed,” Christie said in a statement.
In addition to Guadagno, the commission’s public members are Sen. Steven Oroho, R-Sussex; Sen. Brian Stack, D-Hudson; Assemblyman John Burzichelli, D-Salem; Assemblyman Scott Rumana, R-Bergen; and Brian Levine, the mayor of Franklin Township.
The private-sector members are Edward Deutsch, managing partner at McElroy, Deutsch, Mulvaney & Carpenter LLP; John Galandak, publisher and chief executive officer of Commerce Magazine/Commerce Enterprises Inc. and president of the New Jersey Commerce and Industry Association; and Tony Monteiro, vice president of Dynamic Insurance Center.
“Businesses throughout the Garden State can know that eliminating overly burdensome red tape and costly regulatory hurdles remain a top priority of our administration,” Guadagno said.
