Jobless Rate Dips to 9.9%

Kentucky’s unemployment rate dropped to 9.9% in July from 10.8% a year earlier.

The decline marked the lowest jobless rate in the state since February 2009,  but it occurred largely because of people who gave up looking for a job, said Ron Crouch, director of research and statistics for the Kentucky Office of Employment and Training.

July unemployment rates were lower in 111 of Kentucky’s 120 counties than the same month in 2009.
