Building Permits Revised To a 4.1% Drop to 559,000

The number of U.S. building permits issued in July was revised down to a decrease of 4.1% to a 559,000-unit annual rate, the Census Bureau said on Wednesday.

Permits issued were originally reported down 3.1% to a 565,000-unit rate.

The Census Bureau revises the latest building permits data on the 18th working day of the month, three to seven days after the release of the preliminary estimate in the month housing starts and building permits report.

Permits for single-family homes were revised lower to a decline of 3.6% at a 406,000 unit rate, previously down 1.2% at a 416,000 unit rate.

Permits for multi-unit buildings were revised to show a decline of 5.6% at a 153,000 unit rate, previously down 8.0% at a 149,000 rate.
