U. of Mich. April Consumer Index Sinks a Bit to 72.2

The University of Michigan’s final April consumer sentiment index reading was 72.2 compared to the final 73.6 in March, the preliminary March 72.5 reading, and the final February 73.6, according to market sources.

The expectations index was 66.5 compared to 67.9 last month, 67.2 earlier in March, and 68.4 in February.

The current conditions index was 81.0, compared to 82.4 in March, 80.8 earlier in March, and 81.8 in February.

The five-year inflation expectation index was 2.7% compared to 2.7% in March, 2.7% earlier in March, and 2.7% in February. The one-year inflation expectation index was 2.9% compared to 2.7% in March, 2.8% earlier in March, and 2.7% in February.
