MWAA Gets New Boss

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority has appointed E. Lynn Hampton interim president and chief executive officer effective May 9.

Hampton is vice president and chief financial officer and oversaw the issuer’s $960 million financing package last August for the Metrorail extension project to Washington Dulles International Airport. The deal included $400 million of Build America Bonds and $560 million of tax-exempt bonds. Hampton has been the MWAA’s CFO since 1989.

“Lynn has a comprehensive and institutional overview of the organization, is well respected in the industry and has successfully handled major responsibilities in managing the extensive and complex finances of the Airports Authority,” chairman Charles D. Snelling said.

Hampton is replacing James E. Bennett who will retire on May 8 after 14 years with the MWAA.
