Sales Taxes Spread Around

The Oklahoma Tax Commission distributed $152.9 million of sales and use taxes to cities and counties in February. The revenue reflects sales between Dec. 16 and Dec. 31, and estimated sales from Jan. 1 to Jan. 15.

A total of $117.3 million of sales tax revenue was returned to 505 cities and towns, down $4.4 million from the $121.7 million distributed in February 2009. Another $8.7 million of use tax revenue was shared by 366 towns and cities.

Oklahoma City received $28.7 million of sales tax revenue, down from $30.9 million in February 2009. Tulsa’s share totaled $17.8 million, down from $19.7 million last year.

The state also returned $25 million of sales tax revenue to 75 counties, down from $25.3 million on February 2009. A total of $1.9 million of use tax revenue was distributed to 69 counties.

Tulsa County received $8.9 million of sales tax revenues in February.
