Stone & Youngberg Taps Starwood's Ramiro Albarran for N.Y.C. Office

Stone & Youngberg LLC has hired Ramiro Albarran as a managing director in its New York office, the company announced.

Albarran joins Stone & Youngberg after most recently serving as a managing principal at Starwood Infrastructure, a subsidiary of Starwood Capital Group.

Prior to that he headed the investment banking group of Banc of America Securities LLC's public finance division. There, he established the bank's real estate group within the public finance unit.

Albarran also worked at Stone & Youngberg as a managing director during the 1990s. He has degrees in economics and engineering sciences from Dartmouth College.

"We're very pleased to have Ramiro back at Stone & Youngberg and are confident that he will help us accelerate growth in the Northeast," managing director and head of public finance Steve Heaney said in a statement. "We believe the current environment offers us a significant opportunity to further grow our presence in this important part of the country."

San Francisco-based Stone & Youngberg also recently hired former Merrill Lynch & Co. banker Joanne Feld in its New York office as a vice president. John Muus has been a managing director in the office since 2006 and the firm also has grown its institutional sales and trading presence in New York, too, Heaney said.

The group has served in the selling group or as a co-manager for many large issuers in the region, he said.

"We're in the process of building up our business practice back there," Heaney said in an interview. "The objective is to be active in the large and more middle-market types of issuers. We think there's an opportunity at this time to build that business and get into those accounts."
