Chicago Fed March Index Decreases 2.4% to 82.0

The Chicago Fed Midwest Manufacturing Index slipped 2.4% in March to a seasonally adjusted level of 82.0 after the February report showed a revised 0.4% decrease to 84.0, originally reported as 0.4% drop to 83.8, the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago reported yesterday.

Nationally, the Federal Reserve Board’s industrial production index for manufacturing fell 1.7% in March. Overall manufacturing output in the region dropped 23.2% from a year earlier, compared to a 14.9% decline in output nationally in that period.

Output in three of the four CFMMI sub-sectors decreased in March.
