The California Assembly Tuesday gave its final approval to a bill that would permit community facilities districts to issue bonds to finance the acquisition, installation, and improvement of energy efficiency, water conservation, and renewable energy equipment on public or private property.
SB 279 now moves on to the Senate for concurrence in technical amendments made while the bill was in the Assembly.
Sen. Loni Hancock, D-Berkeley, sponsored the bill to support efforts to use CFD financing to help homeowners, in to help pay for solar panel installations.
Hancock sponsored a similar bill last year that Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger vetoed, calling it an inappropriate way to use CFD taxes.
