Tax Disbursements Down

The Oklahoma Tax Commission disbursed $109.7 million of local sales tax collections to 505 municipalities in August, down almost $4 million from the $113.6 million sent out in August 2008. The commission also disbursed a total of $7.4 million in use tax revenue to 351 cities and town.

Seventy-four counties in the state shared $22.4 million in sales tax disbursements last month, down from $24.1 million last August. Another $1.8 million of use-tax revenue were disbursed among 62 counties.

Oklahoma City received $27.8 million in sales tax revenue, down from $29.4 million in August 2008. Tulsa also saw its revenue drop, to $16.9 million from $17.9 million last year.

Tulsa County received $7.9 million in local sales tax revenues, down from $8.2 million in August 2008.

The August disbursements reflect local tax collections in June.
