The Treasury Department auctions $31 billion of 91-day bills and $30 billion of 182-day discount bills. The 91-day bills are dated Aug. 27 and due Nov. 27 and the 182-day bills are dated Aug. 27 and due Feb. 25, 2010. Currently, there are $30.001 billion of 91-day bills outstanding and no 182-day bills. The Federal Reserve holds $5.938 billion of maturing securities for its own account.

Consumer confidence figures for August are released by the Conference Board.

The Treasury auctions $42 billion of two-year notes. The two-years are dated Aug. 31 and due Aug. 31, 2011.

The Treasury auctions $27 billion of year bills. The 52-week bills are dated Aug. 27 and due Aug. 26, 2010.

Wednesday, August 26

Durable goods figures for July are released by the Commerce Department.

New home sales figures for July are released by the Commerce Department.

The Treasury auctions $39 billion of five-year notes. The five-year notes are dated Aug. 31 and due Aug. 31, 2014.

Thursday, August 27

Preliminary gross domestic product figures for the second quarter are released by the Commerce Department.

Initial jobless claims for the week ending Aug. 22 are released by the Labor Department.

The Treasury auctions $28 billion of seven-year notes. They are dated Aug. 31 and due Aug. 31, 2016.

Friday, August 28

Personal income and spending figures for July are released by the Commerce Department.

Final consumer sentiment figures for August are released by the University of Michigan.
