Chicago PMI Rose to 39.9 In June From 34.9 in May

The Chicago Purchasing Managers’ Business Barometer rose to 39.9 in June from 34.9 in May, the National Association of Purchasing Management-Chicago said yesterday.

Economists polled by Thomson Reuters predicted a 39.0 reading for the indicator.

The production index was up to 39.3 from 38.1 in the prior survey, the new orders index rose to 41.6 from 37.3, the order backlogs index increased to 37.6 from 26.3, and inventories rose to 34.2 from 31.5. The employment index increased to 28.9 from 25.0, and the supplier deliveries index was at 43.1, off from 43.0 in May. The prices paid index increased to 36.3 from 29.8.
