Construction Spending Rises 0.8% to $968.7B

Spending on construction projects rose 0.8% to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $968.7 billion in April as private construction increased 1.4%, and public construction slid 0.6%, according to the Commerce Department.

The overall increase, which contrasted with the 1.5% decrease projected by Thomson Reuters, followed a revised March level of $961.3 billion, a 0.4% increase from the prior month.
